Q&A: Chandra Mission

Q:
I'd like to know what is the highest frequency (in Hz) that you were able to find with Chandra Telescope and what astrophysical object was the source of this high frequency. Are we able to "make" sources here on Earth that are capable of producing rays at these frequencies?

A:
The highest frequency that can be observed with Chandra is approximately 24 exa-Hz. Medical X-rays are even higher frequencies, and are produced by accelerating a beam of particles with an electric voltage and smashing them into a target.
