During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned. Real-time procedures were executed on Mar 13, Mar 14, Mar 15, and Mar 17 to dump OBC-A and -B memory as a follow-up to the flight software patch uplinked last Friday. The dump will be used to update the baseline memory images maintained on the ground. A Chandra press release was issued on Mar 19 describing analysis of Chandra observations of the Perseus galaxy cluster. Researchers used the Chandra data to try to detect the presence of axions. The resulting non-detection puts a very stringent limit on the maximum mass of the axion. For details see: https://chandra.si.edu/press/20_releases/press_031920.html The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes an observation of PSO J047.4479+27.2993, which was accepted as a Director's Discretionary Time Target of Opportunity on Dec 12. |
