Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 17 June 2022 9.00am EDT

During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.

A Chandra press release was issued on Jun 15 describing observations of the pulsar near the center of the supernova remnant G292.0+1.8. The team found that the pulsar is traveling at least 625 km/s. This newly determined velocity implies an age of about 2000 years for the remnant. For details see: https://chandra.si.edu/press/22_releases/press_061522.html

Of note this week was the release on Jun 16 of CalDB version 4.9.8. The CalDB update includes HRC-I/Grating angle corrections, HRC-S QEU file set upgrade version N0016, and PCAD ALIGN updates version N0010. For details see: https://cxc.cfa.harvard.edu/caldb/downloads/Release_notes/CALDB_v4.9.8.html

The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes an observation of GRB 220611A, which was accepted as a Director's Discretionary Time Target of Opportunity on Jun 15.
