Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 25 October 2024 9.00am EDT

During the last week, the observing schedule was interrupted due to a radiation monitor threshold violation associated with unanticipated high off-axis source count rates from the very bright and extended observation target. The loads were autonomously halted at 10:10 a.m. EDT on Oct 21 by the ACIS radiation monitor through execution of SCS 107 for SI safing. All spacecraft actions were nominal. A real-time procedure was executed on Oct 21 to disable SCS-29, which was enabled during the safing sequence. Planned observations that were impacted by the interruption will be rescheduled.

The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below, and includes an observation of AT2024qfm, which is a follow-up to a Target of Opportunity which was accepted on Aug 1 and is coordinated with NuSTAR, and an observation of SDSS J122855.90+341436.9 which is coordinated with HET.
