Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 26 March 2004 8.30am EST

During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.

A procedure was completed on March 23 to conduct a dark current calibration of the Aspect Camera. Assessment of telemetry and data analysis indicates a nominal data capture and an expected rate of increase in warm pixels.

A Chandra image release was made on Mar 24 of the supernova remnant N49B. The image shows a cloud of multimillion degree gas that has been expanding for about 10,000 years. Of note is the unexpectedly high concentration of magnesium detected. For details see: http://chandra.harvard.edu/photo/2004/n49b/

The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes an observation of the NRA Target Of Opportunity GRS 1747-312.
