Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 15 October 1999 4.00pm EST

During the last 24 hours Chandra has continued with the GTO Deep Field observation with ACIS-I. Real-time monitoring of the data from the observation indicated that a correction was required for an ACIS parameter block, and the corrected parameter block was uplinked during an extended real-time contact at 12.30PM 10/15. Additional monitoring of the ACIS data also indicated an increased number of parity errors from the front-end-processor (FEP) 0, similar to the behavior observed on 10/13. This reoccurrence suggests a cause other than an SEU and further assessment is in progress.

The next mission schedule was reviewed and approved on 10/14 and will be uplinked prior to the end of the current schedule at 12AM 10/16. During the next 24 hours the spacecraft will pass through the radiation belts, perform a post-belt ACIS CTI measurement and continue with GTO observations.

The spacecraft systems continued to operate nominally.
