Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 10 August 2001 10.00am EDT

During the last week, Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.

A Chandra press release was issued on 9 August describing observations that show that the X-ray glow from the plane of the Milky Way galaxy comes from hot and diffuse gas. This helps settle a long-standing mystery about the source of the X-ray emission. For full details see:

The planned observations for the coming week are shown below and include one follow-up observation of the Target Of Opportunity, WZ Sge and several long LETG observations with HRC-S.

Sersic 159-03 ACIS-S Aug 13
Cal 87 ACIS-S/LETG
Radiation Belts Aug 14
Cal 83 HRC-S/LETG Aug 15
UV Ceti, Gliese 65 HRC-S/LETG Aug 16
Radiation Belts Aug 17
WZ Sge HRC-S/LETG Aug 18
HZ43 HRC-S/LETG
RCW103 ACIS-I
