Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 23 December 2011 9.00am EST

During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.

A real-time procedure was executed on Dec 22 to update the on-board ephemeris.

A Chandra image release was issued on Dec 20 describing observations of SXP 1062, a pulsar within a supernova remnant in the Small Magellanic Cloud. X-rays from Chandra and XMM-Newton show that the pulsar is rotating remarkably slowly - only once every 18 minutes. For details see: http://chandra.si.edu/photo/2011/sxp1062/

The schedule of targets for the next two weeks is shown below and includes an observation of GRB111215A, which was accepted as a Target of Opportunity on Dec 16.
