During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.

A real-time procedure was executed on Jan 9 to gradually raise the HRC-S MCP HV levels during an observation. This procedure was used collect data for use in a determination of updated HV levels that will recover some quantum efficiency loss caused by a drop in detector gain. The HV levels were restored to their nominal values at the conclusion of the observation.

A Chandra press release was issued on Jan 10 describing the discovery, using Chandra and the NSF-funded Atacama Cosmology Telescope (ACT), of a galaxy cluster, ACT-CL J0102-4915. Nicknamed "El Gordo", it is the most massive, the hottest, and gives off more X-rays than any known cluster at its distance or beyond. El Gordo is actually the site of two galaxy clusters colliding, making it a younger cousin to the well-known Bullet Cluster. For details see: http://chandra.si.edu/press/12_releases/press_011012.html
