Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 27 June 2014 9.00am EDT

During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.

A new version of the Off-Line System (OFLS) ground software was installed for operational use on Jun 26. OFLS 12.1.2.1 is a patch that corrects an issue with building large real-time command loads, such as those for the implementation of ACIS Flight Software patches.

A Chandra press release was issued on Jun 24 describes a mysterious signal that has been seen in X-ray data from a study of over 70 galaxy clusters with Chandra and XMM-Newton. The signal, a spike of intensity at a specific wavelength of X-ray light, has several possible intriguing explanations. More data and investigation will be needed to confirm both the signal's existence and nature. For details see: http://chandra.si.edu/press/14_releases/press_062414.html

Of note this week was the Cycle 16 Peer Review held in Boston, Jun 23-27.

The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes an observation of Sgr A* coordinated with the VLA.
